Frequently asked questions
Do I need specialist car insurance to deliver parcels for Amazon Flex?
Yes, if you work as a Amazon Flex courier driver, making deliveries in your car, then you legally require insurance that permits the delivery of goods in exchange for payment. Standard personal car insurance typically won’t cover you while you’re working as a delivery driver.
This specialist cover is called ‘hire and reward for carriage of goods’ insurance, though we also refer to it as ‘courier delivery insurance’.
Why does Amazon Flex require that I have hire and reward courier delivery insurance?
Street Cover’s courier delivery insurance provides cover for the unique risks associated with delivery work, such as increased mileage, frequent stops, and carrying goods.
Amazon Flex wants to ensure that all its drivers have the appropriate insurance so that, if you have an accident while driving for Amazon Flex, you and your car are protected (and you are covered for any damage to other people or property caused by the accident).
Will I have cover to work for other companies as well as Amazon Flex?
Yes, Street Cover’s delivery insurance permits you to work for one or multiple delivery platforms. You are also covered to deliver food (and therefore covered to work for Uber Eats, Deliveroo etc.) and most other goods that are not hazardous.
More information on cover is available in the IPID and Policy Booklet which can be accessed via our Documents page.
Am I covered to drive my car for social use in addition to being an Amazon Flex driver?
Yes, Street Cover’s courier delivery insurance also permits the use of your vehicle for social domestic and pleasure purposes as well as commuting to and from work.
