Frequently asked questions

Who needs courier car insurance?

Anyone who uses their own car to deliver parcels, packages (or other goods) for payment needs courier car insurance. Standard car insurance typically won’t cover you while you’re working as a courier driver. This applies whether you’re self-employed, working for a single company, or subcontracting for multiple delivery companies.

How is courier car insurance different from standard car cover?

Car insurance for couriers is a specific type of ‘hire and reward’ insurance tailored to the needs of drivers delivering goods. It accounts for the higher mileage, multiple daily drops, and the responsibility of carrying valuable items that are typical in courier work.

Typically, standard car insurance does not provide cover for making deliveries in return for payment.

What am I covered for with Street Cover's courier car insurance?

Our courier car insurance cover includes damage to any third party vehicle and property (up to £20m); loss or damage to your car after an accident (note, for comprehensive cover policies only); loss or damage to your car from fire or theft; a courtesy car (for up to 7 days); and windscreen cover (£25 excess to repair, £115 excess to replace).

Please look at the policy booklets on our documents page for a complete list of features (or look at the Insurance Product Information Documents (IPIDs) full a summary of features by cover level).

What information do I need to get a courier car insurance quote?

Some of the details you’ll need to provide are:

  • about yourself (age, driving history, driving licence, address)
  • your car (make, model, age)
  • your estimated annual mileage for courier work.
Do you sell courier van insurance?
